Local Production of Awards: Why “Made in Germany” Is a Real Advantage

Since 1970, we have been manufacturing awards, trophies and cups in Zimmern ob Rottweil, near the A81 motorway. For our customers, “Made in Germany” means controlled quality, personal contacts and short communication channels. As design, engraving and finishing are carried out at our site in Baden-Württemberg, we can respond flexibly to individual requirements and avoid long supply chains.

B2B customers, public institutions and associations have a dedicated contact person for standard models as well as individually customised products.

Quality: Control over Every Stage of Production

Having awards and trophies manufactured regionally means that at Ätzkunst, design, engraving and finishing are brought together at one location. Our in-house laser engraving and CNC production, sandblasting, painting and powder coating capabilities allow us to directly control each individual processing step. With state-of-the-art UV digital printing technology, we print elements up to 20 cm in height with brilliant colour quality. For specific requirements, we complement this with screen printing and cylindrical screen printing from our own prepress department.

Thanks to regional production, materials, surfaces, lettering and finishing can be inspected directly on site. If corrections are required, our team can respond immediately during the central production stages without relying on suppliers located far away.

For companies and public-sector clients, this level of control is important: An award represents the organiser, the occasion and the achievement being recognised. Company logos, names, titles and event details must correspond to the approved design.

Our trophy manufacturing and finishing processes in the Black Forest include:

  • Laser engraving with CO₂ laser systems from 25 to 400 watts for glass, acrylic glass and wood

  • Fibre laser engraving for permanent marking on metal

  • CNC machining and laser cutting systems, including acrylic glass shapes with a thickness of up to 40 mm solid acrylic glass

  • 3D printing for models and customised shapes

  • Sandblasting

  • Brilliant UV digital printing for elements up to 20 cm in height

  • Screen printing and cylindrical screen printing with our own prepress department for film production

  • Painting and powder coating

  • Punching technology using various punching tools on eccentric presses with a pressing force of 25 to 80 tonnes

With our high-quality awards and trophies manufactured in Germany, the central production processes remain controllable. In addition, long supply chains and coordination with production partners located far away can be avoided.

Communication: One Contact Person, Short Communication Channels

A personal contact person advises you in German or English, streamlines communication and understands the requirements of your project. Questions regarding materials, shapes, engraving, quantities or artwork files are communicated directly to the responsible team in Zimmern ob Rottweil.

Why is this particularly important for customised awards? Small details can have a significant impact on the final result. These include the positioning of a logo, the size of lettering, different names within a series or the combination of several materials. Advice is provided in German and without the need to coordinate across several levels of distribution.

Before production of customised designs begins, design approval ensures that the planned design is confirmed. For a 3D internal engraving, for example, the company creates a three-dimensional graphic based on suitable templates. The client can review and approve the intended implementation before production starts.

This process makes coordination easier for purchasing, marketing and event management teams. Changes can be incorporated before materials are used and production begins.

Delivery Times: Respond Faster Instead of Waiting for Weeks

As we carry out numerous production steps directly in Zimmern ob Rottweil, we can plan orders without lengthy coordination processes.

Available standard models can usually be personalised faster than individually customised products. Custom-designed shapes or 3D internal engravings require more lead time for construction, design approval and production. We therefore assess the realistic processing and delivery time for each project based on the design, quantity and current production capacity.

Sustainability: Short Transport Routes, Regional Materials

Our production facility in Zimmern ob Rottweil shortens transport routes to customers in Germany and avoids complete production and finishing processes overseas. For awards made from wood, we rely on sustainable forestry.

In this way, our regional production takes both the origin of the materials and the transport distances into account. Companies, municipalities and associations receive locally manufactured awards produced using short supply routes rather than extensive international supply chains.

Flexibility: Customised Products Without Long Detours

Customised awards can be manufactured in different shapes, materials and quantities, including individual pieces where required. Our in-house machinery enables our team to assess and implement special requirements directly at our site in Zimmern ob Rottweil.

Time-consuming coordination across several levels of distribution is eliminated. This allows you to discuss your requirements directly with our responsible specialists. Whether you need a special shape, a particular material or a small production run, manufacturing is tailored to the specific requirements of each project, the intended occasion and the required quantity.

FAQ

Which Type of Engraving Lasts the Longest?

On metal, laser engravings and CNC engravings are abrasion-resistant and durable because the design is directly incorporated into the surface. For glass, processes such as sandblasting or CO₂ laser engraving can be used. The most suitable method depends on the material, the design and the desired result.

Can Every Material Be Engraved?

The materials commonly used for awards can be individually engraved or permanently finished. These include glass, acrylic glass, wood, aluminium, brass and stainless steel. Depending on the material, laser engraving, CNC machining, sandblasting or 3D internal engraving may be suitable. Before production, we assess which process is best suited to your material and design.

Is Engraving Also Possible at Short Notice?

For available standard models from our current range, short-notice personalisation is often possible within 2–3 weeks. For particularly urgent requests, delivery can even be possible within 1–3 days from stock. The actual processing time depends on the model, quantity, engraving requirements, data quality and current production capacity.

Customised products require more lead time, depending on the material. This can range from less than 2 weeks, for example for acrylic glass, to around 6–8 weeks, for example for glass. This applies particularly to specially designed shapes or 3D internal engravings, where graphic data must first be created and approved. The requested delivery date is therefore assessed based on the specific project.
